Compared with the traditional process, MIM powder metallurgy technology has the advantages of high raw material utilization rate (up to 95%), low manufacturing cost, good material integration, near-net forming, high precision and stability of products, and so on. Challenges of MIM Industry:

1. Product size. At present, most MIM factories can realize the maximum product size of 200mm in length and 500g in weight. New die design techniques and new injection molding techniques are needed to overcome larger sizes.

2. Material diversity. At present, the main materials used in MIM industry are iron powder and stainless steel powder (316,304,420,440, 17-4pH). Copper materials are rarely used, and only a few MIM factories develop copper products, resulting in high sintering cost. Tungsten carbide, titanium alloy and so on are still in the development stage, if the development is successful, the application of MIM industry will be very broad.
